Electrification Coalition Praises Extension of Colorado Electric Vehicle Tax Credit

Says bill shows Colorado’s commitment to oil-displacing electric vehicle technology

WASHINGTON –Colorado is again demonstrating its leadership in promoting electric vehicle (EV) technology with today’s signing of the Innovative Motor Vehicle Tax Credit (HB1287), Electrification Coalition (EC) CEO Robbie Diamond said today.  The bipartisan bill, signed today by Governor John Hickenlooper, will improve the already existing and successful state tax credit for electric vehicles by expanding it to include all Plug-in Electric Vehicle technologies, simplifying the administration of the credit, and making it easier for Colorado tax payers to understand the credits for which they may be eligible.

Statement by Diamond:  “This bill will get more electric vehicles on Colorado roads and accelerate the transition away from oil and toward a diverse set of domestic fuels to power our transportation sector.  That transition is good for consumers and local businesses alike, and will protect our nation from the economic and national security problems caused by oil dependence.  Policy steps like this, combined with efforts like our Drive Electric Northern Colorado program, show that the state of Colorado is truly leading the way in the United States.”

The EC is one of the leaders of Drive Electric Northern Colorado (DENC), a community-wide initiative designed to achieve widespread deployment of plug-in electric vehicles in the Northern Colorado region.  DENC is a partnership of the EC, the City of Loveland, the City of Fort Collins, and Colorado State University.  For more information, visit
